Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Sprezza LLC ("Sprezza," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use Astronote, our mobile application, and our related websites and services (together, the "Services").
By using Astronote, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
If you have questions, contact us at support@astronoteapp.com.
Summary of key points
- What we collect: the account details you give us (such as your email and username), the content you create in the app (journal entries, gratitude notes, mood and habit logs, goals, and any photos you add), and technical data your device sends automatically (such as device identifiers, app activity, and crash reports).
- Your journal is yours. The content you write and the photos you add are private to your account. We do not read them to target ads, and we never sell them.
- What we do not collect: we do not collect biometric data (such as fingerprints or voiceprints), and we do not collect precise GPS location.
- Advertising: Astronote may show ads supplied by advertising partners (such as Google AdMob). Depending on your choices, these partners may use a device advertising identifier to show you more relevant ads. You can control this — see "Advertising and your choices."
- Selling data: we do not sell your personal information for money. However, the use of advertising identifiers for personalized ads may be considered "sharing" or "selling" under some U.S. state laws, and you can opt out.
- Your rights: depending on where you live, you can access, correct, delete, or export your information, and opt out of certain uses. You can delete your account and data from within the app at any time.
- Who runs it: Astronote is operated by Sprezza LLC, based in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Your data is stored on Google Firebase (Google Cloud) infrastructure in the United States.

1. Who we are
The Services are provided by Sprezza LLC, a limited liability company based in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Astronote is a product of Sprezza LLC. For privacy purposes, Sprezza LLC is the controller of your personal information.
Contact: support@astronoteapp.com
2. What information we collect
Information you provide to us
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect information such as your email address, username, and password. (Passwords are handled through our authentication provider and are stored in hashed, not plain-text, form.) You may also choose to provide a display name.
- Your content. Astronote is built around the content you create. This includes your journal entries, gratitude notes, responses to in-app prompts, mood entries, habit logs (the activities you tap to track), goals (short-, medium-, and long-term), and any photos or images you attach to an entry.
- Communications. If you contact us for support or feedback, we collect the information you include in your message, such as your email address and the contents of your message.
A note on sensitive content. Because Astronote is a journaling and self-reflection app, the content you choose to write may reveal sensitive information about you (for example, about your health, beliefs, relationships, or emotions). You decide what to record. We treat this content as private to your account, we do not use it to target advertising, and we do not sell it.
Information collected automatically
When you use the app, certain information is collected automatically, primarily through Google Firebase:
- Device information, such as device model, operating system and version, language settings, app version, and unique device or installation identifiers.
- Usage and log data, such as the features you use, in-app actions, dates and times of use, and diagnostic information including crash reports and performance data.
- Approximate location, derived from your IP address (for example, your country or region). We do not collect precise GPS location.
- Push notification tokens, if you enable notifications, so we can deliver reminders and account-related messages.
Advertising identifiers
If you have not opted out, our advertising partners may access a device advertising identifier (such as Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) or Google's Advertising ID) to display and measure ads. On iOS, we will request your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before any such identifier is used for tracking. See "Advertising and your choices."
Payments
Astronote is free to download and offers a paid (premium) version through in-app purchase or subscription. All payments are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, and we receive limited transaction information such as your subscription or purchase status. We do not collect or store your full payment card details; those are handled by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies.
3. What we do not collect
To be clear about what Astronote does not do, we do not:
- collect biometric data such as fingerprints, face scans, or voiceprints;
- collect precise (GPS-level) location;
- record audio, video, or phone calls;
- access your phone's contacts, photo library beyond images you explicitly choose to add, microphone, or other device features without your permission;
- sell your personal information for money;
- use the contents of your journal entries to target advertising.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide the Services — create and maintain your account, authenticate you, store and sync your journal entries, habits, goals, and photos across your sessions and devices.
- Operate and improve the app — understand how features are used, fix bugs, monitor performance and stability, and develop new features. This is done with aggregated and diagnostic data rather than the contents of your journal.
- Communicate with you — send reminders and notifications you've enabled, respond to support requests, and send important service or security messages.
- Show advertising — if applicable, display ads in the app (see "Advertising and your choices").
- Protect the Services — detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues.
- Comply with the law — meet our legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We will ask for your consent where required by law, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
5. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the Services you sign up for.
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve the Services, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent — for optional features such as push notifications and personalized advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests.
- Vital interests — in rare cases, to protect someone's safety.
6. How and with whom we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers (sub-processors). We use trusted third parties to run the Services. They may process your information on our behalf, under contract, only as needed to provide their services. These currently include:
- Google (Firebase / Google Cloud) — hosting, database storage, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, and push notifications.
- Google AdMob — advertising (if and when ads are enabled).
- Apple and Google — app distribution and, for any in-app purchases, payment processing.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
- Business transfers. If Astronote is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.
A current list of sub-processors can be provided on request at support@astronoteapp.com.
7. Advertising and your choices
Astronote may display advertising provided by third-party advertising partners, such as Google AdMob.
- Personalized vs. non-personalized ads. By default, ad partners may use a device advertising identifier to show you ads relevant to your interests and to measure ad performance. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized.
- iOS — App Tracking Transparency. On Apple devices, we will ask for your permission before any advertising identifier is used to track you. If you decline, we will not use it for that purpose.
- Android and device controls. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings (for example, "Delete advertising ID" on Android, or "Limit Ad Tracking" / ATT controls on iOS).
- California and other states. Using advertising identifiers for personalized advertising may be considered "sharing" or "selling" of personal information under certain U.S. state laws. You have the right to opt out — see "U.S. state privacy rights."
Our advertising partners process data under their own privacy policies. You can learn about Google's advertising practices at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
8. Social and third-party sign-in
Astronote lets you create an account or sign in using email and password, or through third-party providers such as Sign in with Apple and Google. If you sign in through a third party, we receive basic profile information from that provider (such as your name and email address, depending on the provider and your settings). We use this information only to create and manage your account. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any provider you use.
9. Third-party links and services
The Services, including any advertisements, may link to third-party websites or services we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please review their policies before providing them with information.
10. How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information and content, except where we are required or permitted to retain it (for example, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or enforce our agreements). Residual copies may persist in backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
11. How we protect your information
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encrypted at rest by our cloud provider (Google Cloud). Access to personal information and user content is limited to authorized personnel who need it to operate or support the Services.
Please note that Astronote is not end-to-end encrypted, which means your content is technically accessible to our systems and authorized personnel for operating the Services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You can help protect your account by using a strong, unique password.
If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
12. International data transfers
We are based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States. If you access Astronote from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required (for example, for transfers from the EEA or UK), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
13. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — request a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your information.
- Portability — request your information in a portable format.
- Objection / restriction — object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, withdraw it at any time.
- Opt out of personalized advertising and any "sharing"/"selling."
You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app, or by emailing support@astronoteapp.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
EEA / UK / Switzerland: you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Canada: you may have rights of access and correction under PIPEDA and applicable provincial laws, and you may withdraw consent subject to legal or contractual restrictions.
14. U.S. state privacy rights (California and other states)
If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have specific rights, which may include the rights to: confirm whether we process your information; access, correct, and delete it; obtain a portable copy; and opt out of targeted advertising and any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You also have the right to appeal a refusal of your request, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
To exercise these rights, email support@astronoteapp.com or use the in-app controls. You may use an authorized agent, with proof of authorization.
California — categories of personal information
In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information (as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA):
| Category | Examples | Collected |
|---|---|---|
| A. Identifiers | Email address, username, device identifiers, IP address | Yes |
| B. California customer records | Name, email address | Yes |

| F. Internet/network activity | App usage, interactions, diagnostics | Yes |
| G. Geolocation data | Approximate location from IP (not precise GPS) | Yes (coarse) |
| H. Sensory information | Photos you choose to add to entries | Yes (user-provided) |
| I. Professional/employment | — | No |

Sensitive personal information. Account login credentials are treated as sensitive personal information under the CPRA. The content you write may itself reveal sensitive details, but you choose what to record, and we do not use it to infer characteristics about you or to advertise.
"Selling" / "sharing." We do not sell your personal information for money. If advertising is enabled and you have not opted out, the use of advertising identifiers for personalized ads may be considered "sharing" (cross-context behavioral advertising) or "selling" under California and similar state laws. You can opt out by emailing us, using the in-app controls, declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS, or sending a Global Privacy Control signal.
Shine the Light. California residents may request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes by contacting support@astronoteapp.com.
15. Children's privacy
Astronote is intended for users 13 years of age and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us at support@astronoteapp.com and we will delete it. Where stricter local rules apply (for example, a higher minimum age in your region), we comply with those requirements.
16. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because there is no common industry standard for DNT, we do not respond to DNT signals. However, where required by law, we honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid request to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.
17. How to access, update, or delete your information
You can review and update your account information in the app's settings at any time. You can also delete your account and associated content directly within the app (in account settings), or by emailing support@astronoteapp.com. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information and content, subject to the limited exceptions described in "How long we keep your information."
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and if the changes are material, we will provide a more prominent notice (such as an in-app message). We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
